Here’s a little skit with Dante and Randall that was done for the Tonight Show. Randall goes six minutes without cursing, but it’s worth it. Definitely a funny skit…

I recently came across a great site known as the Grand Comic Book Databse, if you’re a comic collector you’re going to want to check this out. The CBD, as I’ll call it, is a huge on-line databse of comics from 1936 to the present day. It’s a simple database that’s easy to use. Furthermore it’s easy to add to, and easy for people to contribute to. The databse includes information on creator credits, story details, and other information relating to the more than 70,000 titles already indexed.
It’s definitely a great resource and something I would highly recommend to a comic fan or someone that’s just trying to reminisce about their favorite comics when growing up. So check it out, just click here.

Got to see the pilot for the CW’s Aquaman series that will not be coming to tv anytime soon. I guess the CW couldn’t find a place for it in its “busy” schedule, which is kind of a shame considering it was better than half of what’s slated for their fall schedule. The Aquaman pilot, which is available on iTunes for some reason, stars Justin Hartley as Arthur Curry (or AC as he’s called in the show) as the exiled Prince of Atlantis who was sent away as an infant with his mother, Atlanna, in order to save their lives from the evil forces that overtook his father’s kingdom. The show starts when those forces find him and his mother flying home from an expedition, but AC manages to escape and is rescued by whales. Ten years later, in the present day and we find that AC can hold his breath underwater as long as he wants and he can swim faster than a speed boat.
Lou Diamond Phillips had a limited role in this episode as Tom Curry, AC’s adoptive father and we find that he’s a Coast Guard officer who is seemingly AC’s moral compass and human father. A role that differed from the comics. In the comics Tom Curry was his adoptive father and lighthouse keeper. They seemingly split that character into two for the show, with Ving Rhames’ McCaffrey running the lighthouse and also becoming AC’s mentor.
Rhames was great as usual, finding out that he’s an Atlantean who snuck Atlanna and Orin out of Atlantis to keep a promise to Orin’s dying father. He winds up saving AC from the Siren to gain his trust, and after that will act as his mentor and train him in the ways of the Atlanteans to take back his rightful place on the throne. The introductions for the rest of the cast went well, with Eva seeming like she had the potential to be a primary character instead of secondary. She was AC’s friend/business partner and there was nothing romantic between them which was refreshing. We were also introduced to a secret government type character who was looking into the happenings of the Bermuda Triangle which could’ve turned out interesting.
Aquaman wasn’t great, but it definitely wasn’t bad. It’s definitely something I would have checked out again to see how it would have developed. It’s a shame that it didn’t get a chance, considering the CW’s relatively weak schedule.

I’m a HUGE fan of Kevin Smith. I loved all his movies, well except Jersey Girl, but his other stuff was great. I’m a big fan of his run on Daredevil and other comics he’s written as well, so when I heard he was going to do a Clerks 2 I was estatic. Clerks is one of my favorite movies of all time, so my enthusiasm was met with a bit of trepidation. Coud Kevin Smith bring Dante and Randall back without ruining them? Well thankfully he did so and did so in great fashion.
Clerks 2 begins just as Clerks did, with Dante going to open the Quick Stop. Only problem is that the place is burning down. Wth the flames finally smoldered Dante and Randall’s ten year tenure at the Quick Stop and RST Video is over. On to Mooby’s, a fast food chain that’s a blend of McDonald’s and Disney. There the duo, along with Jay and Silent Bob, are up to their usual antics, but are joined by Transformers/Lord of the Rings/Jesus loving Elias, played by Trevor Fehrman, and the store manager Becky, played by Rosario Dawson. We also find out that Dante is engaged and set to move with his fiancee Emma, played by Smiths wife Jen Schwalbach, to Florida the next day.
Dante is glad he’s making the move or at least is telling people he is, but the others aren’t. Becky’s going to miss him and Randall, well he’ll be lost without him. Randall’s constant picking on Elias made for some classic moments and provided some great lines. Speaking of Elias, Trevor Fehrman’s portrayal of him was spot on and he did a brilliant job, making you wonder if the kid was really that sheltered. Some of his lines were just brilliant, pillowpants… listermout… heiney trolls… simply brilliant and the way he delievered them was even better.
One of the most disturbing, but hysterical, scene was the donkey show Randall got for Dante’s going away party. The show involved a man performing beastiality on a donkey or as the performer calls it, inter-species erotica. Thankfully we don’t see anything on screen, but there are plenty of insinuations. This all leads to Dante (no longer engaged to Emma), Randall and the crew spending the night in jail where Dante and Randall come to blows over what’s happening. After some heartfelt exchanges the duo, with the help of Jay and Silent Bob, decide to buy the Quick Stop and video store and re-open it.
I don’t want to give a lot away, but I will say that Clerks 2 has been one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. It’s crass, it’s vulgar, and it was a fitting ending that brought the clerks circle to a close.

This idiot is from a town near mine…
CANDOR, N.Y. (AP) — A man who police claim called 911 because he wanted to see a “hot chick” is cooling his heels in the county jail. Authorities said Tyler Engelhard, 21, told a dispatcher his parents ‘should be in jail’ and that police would ‘find out why.’
A sheriff’s patrol rushed to Engelhard’s Candor home, believing a crime might be imminent.
When deputies arrived, the man claimed he had called as a joke and “wanted to see a hot chick.”
The deputies weren’t amused. Engelhard was charged with falsely reporting an incident and sent to the Tioga County Jail.
He’s been ordered to appear in town court next month.
