End of Season Review

So the Fall/Spring TV season has come to a close, for the most part. Humor me for a couple minutes while I give my brief reviews for the shows I watched this past season, I’ll do the break down night by night.

Surface – Dead in the water, no pun intended. The show was ok and the acting was a little over the top. NBC cancelled it, so now I don’t have to fret as to whether I would have watched season two or not.

Prison Break – Loved it, great writing and acting. Glad that it got the pickup for next season, it’ll be interesting to see how they survive outside of the prison.

Everwood – Great show, too bad the CW (the bastard child of the WB and UPN) decided to axe the show even though it gets better ratings than Veronica Mars and One Tree Hill.

NCIS – One of my favorites, I love the team dynamic and it’s well written. I’ll definitely be returning to this one come the fall.

Gilmore Girls – Took a nose dive, I wasn’t impressed with this show at all this season. I hated how the season started and ended. Take into account the creative team of Sherman-Palladino are leaving, I think I’m going to pass on this one next season.

Veronica Mars – Excellent show, I’m glad that the CW actually gave it a chance next season. The writing and acting are top notch, and it doesn’t hurt having Kristen Bell as your lead. Count me in for next season.

Boston Legal – What a great comedy… Denny Crane! I love this show and thankfully it’s been picked up for a third season.

The Amazing Race – One of only two reality shows I’ll watch. I love the premise of the show and this season it really got back to where it belonged. Count me in for more seasons.

Alias – It’s hit the end of the road and what a disappointing series finale. It was good while it lasted, but it outlived its lifespan. One less show for next season.

Lost – One of my favorite shows ever, I loved the season and despite all the griping from some about it not answering all the questions it was paced perfectly. I will definitely be returning for this one.

Invasion – The best show on tv to not return. No clue as to why ABC cancelled the show, but at least we were able to see the entire season. The writing was top notch and so was the acting. The pacing was perfect too despite the cries of the “gimme now” viewers. It’s sad knowing it won’t return.

That ’70s Show – The 70’s are over, in reality and in the show so it was only natural they end it on New Years Eve. It was fun while it lasted and I actually enjoyed the last season.

Supernatural – It was actually a pretty good show, I liked the stories and thought they did a good job. The CW picked it up so I’ll be tuning in.

The Office – One of the best shows on tv, the writing is absolutely superb and so is the acting. I just love the humor in the show. I will be glued to my seat come premier night.

My Name is Earl – The best new comedy of the year, I love this show…. how can you not! I’ll definitely be checking in to see Earl go down his list.

The OC – I was so bored with this show and had given up entirely on it until Marissa died. Thankfully they killed one of the worst characters on tv, so I may give it a try in the fall. Not sure though.

Stargate SG-1 – I’ve been watching since it premiered on Showtime eleven years ago, I think I’ve been staying with it out of habit although this past season it definitely has picked up. I’ll tune in come July for its next season.

Stargate Atlantis – A fun campy Sci Fi show, It’s a mainstay on Friday nights for me. Since I’m a dad now my nights are limited as to what I can do.

Battlestar Galactica – The best show on television, period. How could I not tune in for the third season. Unfortunately I’ll have to wait until October to do so.

Las Vegas – Started off eh, but got better as the season went along. Hot women in a hot town will keep me watching.

Desperate Houswives – Wow, could it have been anymore boring. It just got too unbearable to watch. Yet it was like a trainwreck, no matter how much you didn’t want to watch you did. Thankfully I’ll have the summer to not think about it which will make it easier to not tune in next season.

So let’s see, that’s five shows that will not be returning and two shows I refuse to watch next season, overall I’ll be down seven shows come next season. Not too bad considering there are only one or two shows that look even remotely interesting for the fall season. Guess I’ll have more free time to do other things I wanted to do.

Well that’s all, but the Summer season has started with the season premier of Rescue Me, so stay tuned for a “mid-season” review sometime in July.

Eh, besides soccer and the shows that I watch it’s not all that much. If it weren’t for the dvr I wouldn’t watch as much, I usuall sit down a few times a week and watch a bunch of shows all at once.
